Services for Families
Stepping Stones provides services and support to families who have children in school with emotional disturbances. Although educators generally want to help these children, they do not always understand the causes of their poor grades or their behavioral problems. We help families so that they can communicate and work more effectively within the school system for the benefit of their child.
Our services include:
ADVOCACY
- Support, direction, and advocacy at school meetings
- Step by step guidance on advocating for your child.
COACHING
- Support and education through the journey of securing the essential components for academic success
- Coaching through the creation of a paper trail.
EVALUATIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
- Evaluation of the child's needs.
- Identification of the necessary supports so that the child can succeed in school.
- Evaluation of the current educational placement and support strategies with recommendations for alterations in the plan as indicated.
EDUCATION
- Education to your child's school team to help them learn about your child's problems, diagnoses, and needed supports.
REFERRALS
- Referrals to school systems, special programs, alternative schools, psychiatrists, psychologists and others.
